Arts Development

With my experience of collaborative engagement projects, I'm passionate about raising the quality of interactive and community work, and investing in skills and career development for the next generation. Ensuring that the value of the arts is recognised for its impact on well being, broadening perspective and raising questions, sharing transferable skills, and for it's life affirming properties, is a significant driving force for me.  

 

Recent projects include:

 

Encore – Fundraiser and Project Manager (current)  www.bhma.org.uk/encore

Responsibility for individual giving programmes to support the work of Brighton & Hove Music & Arts (BHMA).  Developing an innovative fundraising concert programme, developing new donors and raising the profile of BHMA.  Working to income targets to ensure bursaries for tuition, tours and ensembles, specialist instrument repair and to support the inclusive orchestra for young people with special educational needs.

 

Revelation – Marketing and Fundraising Consultant (2016-2017) www.revelationashford.co.uk

Developing a wide-ranging Marketing & Communications Strategy.  Providing review and development of organisational systems to support marketing for 30-40 events a year.  Staff training and progression planning in social media, copy writing, developing content etc. Creating communications campaigns, development of sponsorship and individual giving schemes, developing and refining the brand.   Producing a 2-year Arts Council bid for 75k.

The Keep – Evaluation and Development Consultant (2016) www.thekeep.info

Working with the Community Engagement Manager and partners to deliver a pilot symposium ‘The Business of Heritage’, with an ambition to develop a heritage network for the southeast region.   Developing programme elements and marketing materials, workshop and evaluation materials. Contributing to on-going fundraising and development of the network, with a focus on supporting sustainability and partnership working. Devising and delivery of varied evaluation techniques for a year-long project ‘History on Your Doorstep’, supported by Heritage Lottery Fund. Facilitating group reflection with staff, partners and volunteers to support on-going engagement with the Keep and additional organisational development as a result of the project.

 

Ashford Borough Council – Community Engagement Consultant (2015-2016)

Working with the Arts Development Manager to develop a Heritage Lottery Fund bid to restore and celebrate the Hubert Fountain in Victoria Park.  Consultancy on engagement of local people and organisations in their heritage, creating a wide-reaching community engagement plan alongside the capital works.

 

Same Sky – Arts and Business Project Manager (2011-2015) www.samesky.co.uk

Developing sponsorship for the annual Burning the Clocks event, with businesses joining a 10-year scheme that supports sustainability in the arts. Working with the Business Improvement District to commit shared business funds to the event and establish a network of businesses to display artworks at key events in the cultural calendar. Management of individual giving during the event from an audience of 20,000.
