Career Development

Throughout my career I've been lucky to work alongside many talented and experienced people who have helped me learn new skills and develop my career.  I try to embed meaningful CPD opportunities in every project I manage (whether for teachers, staff, partners or participants), as I believe the is the route to sustainability and wider use of the arts as a means to address social issues. I would have appreciated much more knowledge about the wealth of potential cultural opportunities available at the start of my career. With this in mind, I'm passionate about offering young people opportunities to meet professionals from industries that are under-represented in traditional careers advice.

Recent projects include:

Art@Work (Photoworks, BACA and PACA)

Project management of Careering Round the City - a secondary schools careers event taking all of year 11 into the city to meet cultural organisations and entrepreneurs. Student teams used a bespoke phone app to find, interview and answer questions about cultural organisations.  Development and delivery of an Introduction to Project Management course for sixth form students, management of teachers’ creative professional development programme.

Creative Cafe (Culture Shift)

Management of a careers event for young people, with a programme of meeting creative professionals and undertaking challenges relating to creative careers.

Woodland Careers (High Weald AONB)

A secondary schools project developing entrepreneurial skills and woodland knowledge. Students spent time with woodland professionals, interviewed them and filmed their work.  They then created a stand and presentation for a multi-school careers event.
